How can laundry be disinfected at low temperature?

Laundry detergents are being made now is such a way as to chemically break down bacteria at lower temps than they did in previous years. You can literally use cold water wash for just about everything. I still do towels in hot water - force of habit though. Don't worry - if you dry your clothing with a temp for 30minutes you'll kill whatever didn't die in the wash - trust me, I learned that from some very cool Doctors! Good luck.
