I didn't understand Marie Antoinette, the movie. Can you help?

She moved away so that she would be away from the public spotlight, seems to me that her relationship with her husband was portrayed as more amicable in the movie than it has been in history. Her crime of treason was due to her excess spending when her country was poor.
