Planning to go on holiday but should you be cautious of racism?

im black and i really want to go to italy, turkey or croatia on holiday next year. but apparently everyone keeps saying that they are really racist and it wouldn't be a pleasant holiday. but ok i'm from london and there isn't a lot of racism but would it really be that bad? or are people being over dramatic. anyone know anything or have any experiences? thanks
