Why certain combinations of donor and recipient blood types are not suitable for blood transfusion?

Everyone naturally makes antibodies against whatever antigens are not on their red cells. If you receive red cells that contain the antigen you have the antibody for, the cells are immediately attacked by the body and a whole cascade of physiological problems start to happen, leading to death in just a couple of minutes.
